Stakeholder consultation held as part of a “Study to support the review of the list of restricted substances and to assess a new exemption request under RoHS 2 (Pack 15)“
This stakeholder consultation is related to the Substance Review and the Substance Inventory parts of the study:
In relation to the Substance Review, seven substances are to be assessed in the course of the study with a view to the review and amendment of the RoHS Annex II list of restricted substances. The current consultation aims at collecting comments on four of the seven substances that have been assessed. The substances currently under consultation include:
- Cobalt dichloride and cobalt sulphate;
- Nickel sulphate and nickel sulfamate;
- Beryllium and its compounds; and
- Indium phosphide.
A consultation on the remaining three substances shall be launched in the fourth quarter of 2019.
In relation to the Substance Inventory, the revised inventory is being consulted on with an aim at collecting information for its updating and for the final determination of the substances to be subjected to the prioritization review. The consultation is now online and shall be held for six weeks from today 26 September 2019 and until 07 November 2019.

The sections Indium phosphide, Beryllium and its compounds, Nickel sulphate and Nickel sulfamate, Cobalt dichloride and Cobalt sulphate contain further necessary information (e.g. assessment dossier). The Substance Inventory section contains necessary information for providing a contribution in this area as well as therevised RoHS substance inventory.
Results of the consultation and next steps
Unconfidential information submitted during the consultation will be posted on the EU CIRCA website (Browse categories > European Commission > Environment > RoHS Evaluations, at top left, click on "Library").
Non-confidential information submitted during the consultation will be posted on this website. Further exchange with stakeholders will be held after the consultation has ended for those issues where further need for information and / or need for (technical) discussion is to be identified.
