Stakeholder consultation on two exemption requests from the substance restrictions in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS Directive)
The stakeholder consultation shall run for eight weeks from 03.12.2019 to 27.01.2020 and covers two exemption requests:
One exemption is the renewal request of exemption 27 of Annex IV and one request is a new exemption. Further necessary information (e.g. original request applications, questionnaire, results of former evaluations) can be found on the page
Annex IV, Ex. 27 “Lead in solders, termination coatings of electrical and electronic components and printed circuit boards, connections of electrical wires, shields and enclosed connectors, which are used in
(a) magnetic fields within the sphere of 1 m radius around the isocentre of the magnet in medical magnetic resonance imaging equipment, including patient monitors designed to be used within this sphere, or
(b) magnetic fields within 1 m distance from the external surfaces of cyclotron magnets, magnets for beam transport and beam direction control applied for particle therapy.”

Results of the consultation and next steps

Further exchange with stakeholders will be held after the consultation has ended for those issues where further need for information and / or need for (technical) discussion has been identified.

Please note that the scope of the study as indicated in the title for this "pack” of exemption requests (Pack 18) has changed: The assessment of the request for renewal of exemptions 6(a), 6(b), 6(c), 7(a) and 7(c)-I of Annex III has been suspended. The assessment will be conducted together with other applications that might be submitted in beginning of 2020.
